Not just a party, this was truly a Party with a Purpose:  educating the community about the first conventionally constructed LEED Platinum home in Los Angeles while raising money for the nonprofit environmental organization Global Green.

Eco | Consulting LA partnered with Hiving, Byrd Development, and All Shades of Green to host a fabulous evening showcasing a high performance and environmentally progressive home in Los Feliz.  However, this home is no stranger to the spotlight; it was featured on Planet Green’s popular AlterEco show hosted by Darren Moore, Adrian Grenier, and Richard Byrd.  “The plan was to build a custom 1920’s Spanish style home and hide all the attributes to prove that green doesn’t have to have a standardized look and feel”, said Byrd.

Over 75 Guests, in addition to the cast of the show, “Hived in” from all over Los Angeles to learn about the environmental features and catch a glimpse of the home before it is sold and off limits to the public.  Tours were conducted throughout the evening by Shannon Foster of Byrd Development.  Shellie Collier, the LEED for Homes rep for the project, was also on hand to answer questions about the green features and benefits of the home.  Delicious organic food and wine was provided by GingerGrass, Large Marge Sustainables and Nelson Family Vineyards.  Visitors did not leave disappointed, recognizing that green is both architecturally interesting and technologically innovative.

“In order to gain the highest level of LEED certification, every detail of this home was thoughtfully designed, from the
reclaimed wood flooring to zero energy consumption and water efficient fixtures.” says Shellie Collier.  The Green Home Tour
was not only a great opportunity to educate and celebrate green building, but also a way to bring people together for a good
 cause in a responsible manner.
